I write this as I am still trying to decide how to best do recaps. I enjoy live blogging the bouts, but I miss so much of the action while doing it that it’s taking away from my enjoyment of the game. With that said, feel free to read my randomness that I call live blogging over at my site (pardon the typos, blogging on an iPhone while trying to watch the game isn’t so easy):

I was so pumped going into Saturday night. Steamers v Knockers was sure to be a great match and Bombers v Pinups should have been epic. 2010 Hazard Cup championship rematch, top 2 teams (in my opinion) in the league going at it for best record and bragging rights.
Game 1: Steamers v Knockers] Winner: Knockers 143-93
After last week’s blowout of the Knockers, they came to the track with something to prove and they certainly did that. This was an unexpected domination by the Knockers. The most impressive part of this game was Takeout. She showed up late because of personal obligations, skated a couple jams, and had to leave again. It would have been one thing to come in and skate for a few jams and be unproductive because of no warmup, but that’s not TO’s game. Instead, she comes in, fills in as Jammer, takes lead, and [strong]without[/strong] a PowerJam being into effect, scores 5 grandslams to rack another 25 points onto the Knockers already large lead. Mucho credit to the Knockers blocking armada at keeping the Steamers jammer trapped in the pack for that long.
Post halftime, the Steamers came back looking like they were going to mount a comeback. Scary lands a trip to the box, allowing Killy to get a 15 point powerjam. Next jam, CQ scores a quick 4 and calls it. Could it be a comeback? I certainly thought so, but was unfortunately mistaken. Knockers quickly adjusted to the changes the Steamers made and are again taking control.
A couple random thoughts I had during the match:
“Damn that Halo hits hard.”
“Steamers are getting lucky at the blind refs. I saw a few cuts of the track and definitely 1 trip that didn’t get called”
Game 2: Bombers v Pinups Winner: Bombers 106-67
I couldn’t be more excited at this point. This game has got to be awesome. The game opened with another trip that didn’t get called. Team Zebra doesn’t seem to notice some of the fouls that have been happening. Although the final score doesn’t really reflect it, it looked like everyone was giving it their all. Lots of hits. Lots of speed. Lots of fouls. Very entertaining. This game was pretty much all Bombers. A couple memorable moments and thoughts:
- 2 pinup blockers tried sandwiching Destroya between them to take her down, but ended up taking out one of their own and Destroya just pushed through to take lead jam.
- Sparkles – that’s one quick woman. It seems that not getting lead jam to her is as spinach to Popeye. She speeds around that track to catch up to the opposing jammer so fast. Incredible. Oh, and who can forget the frequent taunting? F’n hilarious!
- Eva nearly had lead jam and Slaughter showed up out of nowhere and takes her down. Nice skating. That said, she was in the box quite a bit this game. Gotta get a handle on those fouls.
- Great armwhip from Souleater to get Pixie moving faster, resulting in an 8-0 jam. Nice!
- Eduskater as Bombers jammer gets sent to the box, giving Pixie a powerjam. Unfortunately for the Pinups, the Bombers blocking team shut her down. Only 2 points.
- Eduskater lost her star helmet and some NSO actually ran onto the track to get it. No!!!!! It’s still in play, you have got to leave it there so the jammer can get it back. She can’t score without that on!
Overall, I expected a very close game. Was surprised to see the Bombers take control and have their way with it.
Oh, and one final thought: Hey Kent Smith – I don’t want a burrito from Ohio City Burritos. I know you have to promote your sponsors, but do you have to repeat it so much?
