In what was the most impressive bout of the season so far, the HellBombers manage to retain their undefeated reign by the narrowest of margins. This bout was one of the lowest scoring bouts that I have ever witnessed as the Bombers scored just three points over the Pinups 47-50. Turn Two was in total amazement, from beginning to end.

To start things off with the first jam, another first Stroker did not get lead jammer and score her usual 8-9 points. Instead Punk’d Pixie pulls lead jam and starts the day off with an 0-3 lead, as a matter-of-fact Pixie managed to score the first 25 points for the Pinups. The excitement never ceased, both teams were were laying it all out on the track. The defensive strategies played by both teams were some of the greatest I have seen, the tail block battles between CoCo, Soulie, Garguilo, and Boots were just down right brutal. Eva Lucien… Hell yeah, welcome back Lil Lady, you were on fire out there! This bout stayed so close the whole game, I was actually shocked at how close it stayed. After half-time I thought the Hellbombers would come out guns blazing and the Pinups would be too fatigued to hang in there. Fortunately, I was way wrong, watching the Pinups stifle jammers like Garguilo, and Stroker I was in awe. Now CoCo Sparx that is a different story, on three separate occasions CoCo Sparx out skated the lead jammer, and forced them to call the jam before it ever hit the pack. Who put the firecracker in CoCo’s ass, that girl was so fast that night. And Garguilo, watching you freak out for a point that you had already received was pretty damn funny, mostly because Scissor-Lick is so un-phased by you women that as a fan you just have to laugh!

Oddly enough I saw some very different player lineups from the Bombers, often seeing Destroya on the pivot line three times in a row. Pivots calling some sort of audible, didn’t seem to work for them, I would just go with what you know. With such as close game, every little mistake can be tragic. In one of the craziest moments Stroker Ace managed to have her jammer pantie inside out on her helmet, for three laps her team tried to get her to flip and she kept adjusting, but that net the Bombers 10 missed points. Stroker never looked so devastated on the bench. Unfortunately that is what happens when you wear the Knockers panties (that sounds dirty). I just want to say thank you to both teams for such an exciting (I lost my voice within the first 15 minutes) and well played game. All that excitement was quickly muffled by the last jam, Boots vs. CoCo Boots seemed to break through the pack first but was just short of the 25 foot rule, as the Bombers managed to get her back towards the pack, CoCo broke out as lead jammer and quickly called the jam.

  1. Hellbombers, not HellBombers!

I’ve been skating 3 on 1 off all season, and I don’t think the rest of our lineup was really any different than it normally is. The “audibles” we were calling aren’t any different than the plan we make on the bench before we hit the track either… so nothing new there.

    What’s this 25 foot rule?

Not sure what was going on with us, we definitely were not playing our best on Saturday that’s for sure. PinUps played a great game, probably the best I’ve seen them all season. I hope we a chance for a rematch, possibly in July? :)

Word to ALL of the above. The Pinups brought it for sure and we were off our game – definitely not the best performance we have had. The Pinups played better Saturday than I’ve seen them play in 4 seasons, so props to them. Our lineup was only slightly different, due to the last minute scratch of Chelle Shock, and we will be more than happy to have her back for June, as she’s turning into a real force to be reckoned with in the pack.

All in all, 2 good games make for a successful BRRG bout day.

    ps
I am still not jamming. :)

  2. I think we should change it to 25 feet, It would save some people on this league a lot of penalties!! lol :o )

Regardless of anything, hands down best bout I have seen in awhile. Honestly, I did not see a whole lot of faults in the Bombers game. I just did not see you guys work your Magic out there. Normally you guys are forcing penalties and pulling double triple grandslams because of it. The Pinups just play such a solid game out there!

My team is probably going to think I’m an asshole for saying this, but I don’t think we were really “off” our game on Saturday. Yes, we made some mistakes, but there weren’t any more and they weren’t any worse than ones that we’ve made in previous games. I think that what really had us “off our game” was the PinUps. They didn’t let us play the way that we’re used to. We’ve been very heavy on trapping one person behind us and controlling the pack from there this season. The PinUps like to get to the front of the pack and control from there. We found very early on that the PinUps had a similar approach to choosing their tail blockers as we have and thus took that control of the back of the pack away from us. They then had their control of the front and were able to consistently get their girls out to be lead jammer. It was a hard game to play because yeah, when your team is controlling the pack, it’s very easy to know exactly what to do, but when you’re just trying to react to what the other team is doing, it’s another story.

As far as my speed in this game goes, don’t think that I’m suddenly some kind of Olympic sprinter. I’m not. That was not a speed that I could possibly maintain for any longer than I did. I knew that I didn’t stand a chance of actually making it to the pack to score any points, so I knew that it was only a very, very short time that I was going to have to do that speed, just long enough to pass Pixie and force her to call it. It’s not even a small exaggeration when I say that each jam after that I was on my bench gasping for air.

  6. i would have to say that i am so proud of the pin-ups. the hellbombers were not “off” of anything, the pin-ups were just “on” to their game and shut them down. it was possibly the most exciting game ever!

Destroya — would love a rematch in July :)

CoCo, thanks for the props without qualifiers! We vets have always loved to play the HBs — we haven’t been on the track with you since last April! — and this game was no exception. Fast-paced, hard-hitting and fun. Can’t wait to get back out there with you and fight-fight-fight down to the very last point. <3

You guys are my favorite to play. Never any type of bad blood or drama. No smacktalk, but lots of Smack-EY! Woot!
