may-hem

The third game of the third season is bound to be explosive. In bout one we have the pinups vs the hard knockers, and in bout two we have the 1-1 Steamers challenging the 2-0 Hellbombers. These bouts are pivotal in placement for the battle for the hazard cup. In bout number one, the 0-2 Hard Knockers challenge the 1-1  Rolling Pinups.

The Hard Knockers seem to be in unfamiliar water losing their first two bouts. These girls are hungry for their first win, however the Rolling Pinups would rather the Hard Knockers  starve. The Pinups latest win over the Steamers while skating nine, proved that good things come in small packages, don’t ever count these girls out!  The Pinups have their aces in their places; this was the Booty-Lucien (Bootylicious) :) team that everyone expected to see. Every player on the Pinups knows her job, and does her job well; this makes them a dangerous group on the track, be wary. Looking at the Hard Knockers, you see so many power-houses, it is shocking that they are not cleaning up this year. I would not be surprised to see if Stella Hard Knocker got her groove back this bout! Strong  jammers, and powerful blockers, the Knockers are not a team to be taken lightly.  Monster and Scarrie have something to prove this bout, I would be afarid to be on the track with them! This bout is going to be a close one, I could see it going both ways. It will be a surprised which jammers are going to have the least amount of trouble breaking through the pack and put points up for their team.

In the secound bout the Cleveland Steamers challenge the undefeated Hellbombers! I see this bout as being one of the first real challenges to The Hellbombers. The Steamers are an extraordinary team this year, with many of the skaters being new to this league, this give them a great advantage. In previous bouts the Hellbombers have been studying the Steamers in great detail, trying to formulate a good strategy to play against them. The Steamers have been playing on the the track like they have nothing to lose; which makes for great gameplay, but at times can be costly. The Steamers are a young team which makes them very cunning this year, this will be the bout to test every aspect of their strategy. One thing the Hellbombers do best is play each jam like the entire game rides on it; even when they are up 10 points they are just as cut-throat when they are tied. There is a strong level of maturity (well at least on the track) :) for the Bombers. The Hellbombers are extremely good at capitalizing on others mistakes, so play it smart out there Steamers. Best of luck to everyone!

Whatever, we’re rubber and your glue…

Actually, the bouts are flipped. Steamers v. Hellbombers is first. Finally, we’ll get to drink some beers in Turn 2 after the game.

Ooh – These are going to be a couple of great bouts. Too bad I have some family bid-ness to attend to this weekend – or I’d be driving our new Prius (yeah, that’s right, I went from derby/Vanadu to yoga/Prius) out to Cleveland to witness the majesty.

I think the point spread we saw at the PinUps/Bombers game was an anomaly for this season. The teams seem very evenly matched, but with very distinct playing styles – makes for some really fun to watch derby.

Knockers and PinUps pour a lot of emotion onto the track – they both have to want this win badly. The PinUps want a couple of wins under their polka-dotted belts to prove that their big loss against the Bombers was a fluke. The Knockers want to prove that the pink team is still a BRRG powerhouse.

Steamers and Bombers will be super fun. I loved watching Killustrator block the opposing jammer out of bounds and taunt as she slowed down, jokingly inviting that jammer to come in in front of her for a track cutting penalty. It would be great to see her do that to Stroker or Ego Jewler (that’s Ida Bitter’s new name, right?).

Have fun! Will someone please text me with highlights? or Twitter this craziness or something.

Pain, I agree. I think the large point spread in the Bombers/PinUps bout was a one time thing. PinUps were down 2 crucial vets in the pack which is a big deal for the first bout. The rookies are just getting their feet wet and still have to work out all the first bout jitters. So having those vets in the pack to direct traffic really helps. Bombers also didn’t lay off the gas either. We didn’t change our lineup and put in different jammers until the very end. CoCo and I didn’t even realize we were up by that much or else we would have done it sooner to give our other skaters some bout jamming practice. If we play the PinUps again it will be a much closer bout. They have really worked hard and have great teamwork this season! They are definitely contenders for the Hazard Cup!! Unfortunately because of that big loss they are at a disadvantage if two or more teams have the same record after Saturday. Point spread would come into play to break the tie, and that big 90+ point loss will hurt them.

The Pinup/Knockers bout is going to be great! I can’t wait to watch. I literally have NO CLUE how this one is going to turn out!

    As it stand now:
    HB 2-0 +123
    RP 1-1 -93
    CS 1-1 -1
    HK 0-2 -29
